Emphasising Reflection and Refraction
A rather unusual approach to creating an ikebana arrangement but the result was amazing plus being very thought provoking.
Alexander, one of my students came up with this great theme in the pursuit to discover different aspects of the material used in an arrangement. Students soon became enthralled with the new discoveries of material and seeing design from a totally different angle
Shapes and sizes of mirrors varied plus breaking a mirror into shards enabled endless ideas to develop. Mirrors placed under containers, behind work, inside glass containers even inserted or stuck onto the material stimulated many unpredictable designs.
The lesson stimulated discussions about design, space, focal points and how it made you ‘see what you were looking at’.
