Arrangements Using Straight Lines

Sandy Marker

Line work is one of my favourite styles and all my students tend to remark on my passion for this style of work.

Today’s lesson is emphasising Straight Line , which is exciting because your arrangement used any style of container plus take on many different forms and directions. Having said that there are a few rules that must be taken into consideration. Firstly avoid material pointing directly at the viewer’s eyes (not only is it for safety reason but it also feels very aggressive having something pointing directly at your eye). Other points to consider – don’t rest any material on the table/surface where the container is placed because the material looks tired or old, create tension by having material just off the surface. It creates a magic appearance plus great shadows at that point.

I could continue with many other points to be considered but I am sure you are keen to look at both my and my student’s examples. To do so click on the link below
