Emphasizing Water in an Arrangement

There are many ways to use water in ikebana. Firstly, the artist can arrange material in order to replicate water such as line material cascading over a rock into a suiban full of water. Another idea is curve reeds or long strappy leaves in a suiban to look like ripples etc.

The other use of water in ikebana besides keeping fresh plant material fresh is to highlight the transparency and beauty, which magnifies or refracts the plant material in the container. Whatever the choice of the how to use the water I feel you will always get a fantastic arrangement.

I love water and will nearly always fill my container to the brim creating a curved surface cause by tension.
