Japanese Ikebana Floral Art Tour

If you like beautiful gardens, the subtleness of elegant design or the earthiness of ceramics then this adventure is made just for you.

From this wonderful escorted tour with a maximum of only 16 participants, you will learn that ikebana is more that just flowers in a vase, it is actually capturing the beauty of nature itself.

We experience ikebana first hand by attending an ikebana class, visit the 99th Sogetsu Annual Exhibition, which I exhibited at this year. We wander through famous gardens and be touched by the autumn colours or view the quirkiness of wall gardens. There will be some free time to explore the hidden delights of Tokyo before we travel to Kyoto to enjoy a Japanese tea ceremony, immerse yourself into the art of ikebana and visit Sango-Cho sculpture park.

The adventure continues to Fukui, the home of Sogetsu ceramics plus see the many hidden treasures of the area. From here we visit Kanazawa famous for gardens, gold leaf museums and traditional craft museum, before heading high into the mountains to savor the last of the rich autumn colours while viewing art in the landscape and the very unique Hachi & Seizo Tashima Museum of Picture Book Art.

I will travel with the group, along with a certified guide where necessary, sharing my knowledge of Sogetsu ikebana and my love of Japanese culture and art forms.
