More discoveries in Tokyo on Thursday and Friday

Thursday and Friday again bought new surprises.

Thursday I headed over to Shinagawa to the Japanese Immigration, no I am not applying for permanent residency but really need to be here forever to see everything. I was so close to Ebisu where there is something called The Garden Place so of course I had to investigate. Not quite sure what to expect I was not sure where I was where I was in France looking at a chateau in the middle of high-rise or Tokyo.

Looks like a French chateau in the middle of high-rise

Still deciding what impressed me most: the ‘chateau’ building, the glass arch way or the array of flowers in the planter boxes, many with Mignonette or Radicchio lettuces as boarders.

Stunning glass arch way

Friday proved to be equally an exciting time. I headed to The National Museum of Modern Art, in Chiyoda beside the Imperial Palace. After viewing the Momat Collection, which included Miro, Braque and Rodin and many wonderful Japanese artists who had been influenced by European art. The exhibition was vast so spent a lot of time enjoying the collection. From there I was lured by the cherry blossom as everyone else, I walked through the Imperial Palace gardens enjoying not only the blossom but azaleas almost hot pink with violet red rhododendron flowers behind and many other special hidden treats throughout the garden

Today’s new information is Edgeworthia Chrysantha (or oriental paper bush or Mitsumata), written in katakana it mean 3 branches. Where the flowers bloom it is always at the end of three little branches.

I am fascinated with this bush the use of making washi paper
