Friday 15th April Teachers’ Workshop

Feeling revitalised after visiting the Nezu Museum to view the beautiful screens depicting irises and another showing the moon rising over the Kanto plains (Grass Moon). Afterwards a special time was spent wandering through the garden, which did wonders for my creative thoughts before heading off to school .

I attended two classes today with Ms Koka Fukushima the Master, the first theme – Expressing Splendour of Flowers and Branches. Sensei described the theme and without seeing it written down I miss interpreted the word ‘spring’ and took it literally creating an arrangement of flowers springing from the container. Using Craspedia (Billy Buttons) above folded Aspidistra leaves was to create the feeling of jumping up. Not a pretty arrangement but certainly full of movement.
